Strawberry Confidential...

As I sit here compiling my thoughts on joining the movement, I guess I'll blog about some of the ridiculous happenings/thoughts in my so called life.

Ladies and gentlemen, for the first time since March 27th, 2005 and a hundred and something episodes, I actually understood the entire episode of Grey's. You don't understand how excited I am to to be able to say that. What episode you ask? Season 6, Give Peace A Chance. I won't bore you with details of the episode, but because I am getting ready to be tested on the brain/spinal cord, it's only appropriate that I watch the episode in which Patrick Dempsey narrates the episode. So maybe watching Grey's every night has finally paid off.

F-R-I-E-N-D-S marathon every night this week? What a perfect week for it to happen.

After experiencing below normal temperatures in June, I decided to take advantage of it, and sit out for a couple of hours. It's 80° with a slight breeze. I won't get that burned. WRONG. Tonight is the first night (Friday) since Sunday that I haven't been itching. Oh, and did I mention that I'm already peeling? That's not supposed to happen until the end of July.

I came across my first walnut of the season.

In case you live in a cave, theres a chance that I could finally see a Triple Crown winner this weekend at Belmont. The last horse to win, which happened to be Secretariat, won in 1974, and that was well before my time. BREAKING NEWS: After coming down with a case of tendionitis, the legendary horse has been pulled from the race, and will head back to his home of Cal-if-orn-ia Monday morning where he will live a happily retired life. I wish I could retire at the age of three.

The Queens Jubilee? Nothing short of booorrrrriiinnnggg. I mean I did enjoy the occasional glimpse of William and Catherine. But come on, lets just get to the real deal; the OLYMPICS.

ESPN announced that Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Bubba Watson will be on a team for next weekends U.S. Open. I'll be watching for Bubba.

Miley Cyrus is engaged to long time boyfriend Liam Hensworth. Next.

Looking for new music? YouTube Sundy Best. Yes, you read that correctly, Sundy Best. That's not a typo. Sundy. Best. Trust me. You won't be disappointed.

Am I missing something about the phenomenon show of Downton Abbey? Apparently I am.

Matthew McConaughey is getting married to his Lady Camilla Alves this weekend. I will never stop loving him. If we share the same birthdays I think we are meant to be together. Camilla, you're gorgeous and everything, but I loved him first.

Having my boss call me? TWICE? On my cell phone? At home? After working all day? I can check that off my PFM bucket list.

Good ole Lilo totaled her Porshe, landed her self in the hospital, and got cut from the highly profiled Gotti movie. #Notyourbestweekever. #Ouch.

The local weather for Monday is calling for all day downpours. Hey big guy upstairs, please, I beg of you, can you hold off for at least a half an hour while I travel to school? I don't mind driving in light to steady rain, but this coming week is one week it can't rain. I have a test on the brain first thing Monday morning, and on top of test anxiety, a downpour of rain would not make me a happy camper. #Pleaseandthankyou

ESPN is reporting that there is a strong (notice the emphasis on the word strong) chance that the UL basketball team could be the number ONE team heading into the season. #L1C4

I am now the proud owner of a unicorn charm. Yea, you read that right. A unicorn charm.

Please note, I am trying harder to blog more often. I know I have not met your daily fix, but if you know my current schedule, I think you would understand.

And They Say She's So Lucky...

Ladies and gentlemen, the moment has come (again) for me to announce that I have made it to the HALFWAY point of Summer school. It was Memorial day weekend 2011 that I had no choice but to quit my god awful writing class. Surprisingly, no one has yet to drop out, and honestly, I'm not seeing anyone in the near future that will because after Wednesday's class I will only have SEVEN classes until I am free for the summer. #winning.

In other ridiculous Sara news, it seems as if my luck has slowly started to turn around. After a loooonnnggg miserable 7 day heat wave, there is relief in the future. I'm not one who complains when they don't feel well, but due to long eight and nine hour busy days at my second home, I would arrive at 6:55 AM, leave at 3:00 P.M. and come home and take a solid 90 minute sometimes two hour nap. At one point Mom and Dad became concerned that I might have mono. Nope. More like heat exhaustion. Oh, and then add in the leave my house at 8:00 AM, have class all day, work through lunch, and arrive home at 5:30 days in between. I'm also clearly aware that I decided to do this to myself, but it's not my fault when mother nature thinks it's okay to give us sweltering days in the 90's.

Phillip Phillips won the eleventh season of American Idol, and going into Tuesdays night performance, I thought that he was better off coming in second place, because there would be no way that Jessica Sanchez could survive without it. Fast forward to each contestant singing their possible first single. Ummmm... dear Phillip. I love you. That is all. His rendition of Home, (no not that sappy Michael Buble song) is absolutely wonderful, and Randy Jackson even compared him to one of my favorite indie bands, Mumford and Sons.

Following the first night of the Idol finale, the season finale of gLee premiered. I had waited weeks for this, and had heard from Twitter that I would be needing Kleenexes. So WRONG. First off, Matthew Morrison butchered the Rod Stewart classic and my favorite song Forever Young. As I have said before, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. For those gLee fans who actually read this, I won't spoil the ending in case you haven't seen it. But really?!? I don't think I'll be purchasing Season 3 on DVD. That's how disappointed I am.

Less than 100 days until FOOTBALL!! I've never been a fan of baseball. Except for the All Star game, (July 10th) and that means we're halfway through Summer. And that much closer to Fall.

I guess the biggest news is that after four looooonnnggggggggggg scary drives to and from school dodging trucks, CHIP HAS A..... HORN!!! And a cute horn I might add. Words cannot express my excitement for this new addition to him.

There will be a post explaining what I am about to tell you later on, but a month after ordering a new pair of special running shorts, they arrived at my doorstep, and with two extra surprises. :)

After a mild winter, THE bathing suit, made it's seasonal debut. Still fits like a charm, and still madly in love with it.

Summer school needs to hurry up and be over with. I have books waiting to be read.

To celebrate the Queens 60th year on the throne, Katie Couric has sat down with the Royal Family Prince William, Catherine, and Harry for an exclusive interview. And no, I didn't add Prince Williams favorite picture of him and his grandmother to my iPhoto library. Me? No, I would never do that.

Haven't had to close at work in three weeks. #seniority

It's that time of year again... The Scripps National Spelling Bee. Sadly, I have obligations Thursday morning in which I will not be able to view the Second and Third rounds, but good thing for DVR. And for all my fellow nerds out there, the finals are Thursday night. #nerdalert.

Looks like I'll be making a return trip back to America's Political Playground in October. #bringLukeRusserthomeroundtwo.

Another Lonely Day...

And I'm sure that's what a lot of you feel every day when you type in saraspills.blogspot.com
Callie Torez of Greys Anatomy fame said it best. Life changes in an instant. Turns on a dime. Okay, so maybe my life hasn't changed in an instant, but I feel like life with my blog has. I know that's not the news that you probably don't want to hear after I have taken a siesta with my beloved blog. There are times that I have to be truthful, and this is one of them.
There are days where I get that thing that everyone hates called writers block. And then there are days where I say to myself, I probably should blog about this. And then I open up my computer and loose every ounce of inspiration I once had. I still really enjoy blogging, but I don't have the enthusiasm I had two years ago. CLEARLY hear me out. I still plan on blogging, but I just don't know how often. I think after today, and some thinking my thoughts should be flowing again. I'm also not going to lie about how guilty I feel about abandoning the blog. I have felt incredibly guilty for not filling you all in about my life. Because we all know how exciting my life can be sometimes. :)
The last time I blogged, I announced that I had signed up for an ALL DAY anatomy class. When I told people what my summer plans were, I included that in them, and of course, they gave me the mandatory "uh good luck with that. Is it a required course?" spiel. And of course, I politely responded back, "well, I have to have a natural science, and a lab, and I thought why not kill two birds with one stone? Plus it's my last science class I'll ever have to take, and I'm good with memorization, so I'm actually kind of looking forward to it." #Nerdalert. Um, if I could take that back, I would love to. This will be one of the worst things I have endured. And it started when I received my books for the class. My reaction when I saw my books for the first time? "About that." After making the trek to my building, I quickly figured out that I would be sitting in classroom with no windows. ALL DAY. I don't see the light of day until 4:30 in the afternoon. And lets not forget that I go in at 9:00 AM. My teacher  Doctor? Could not be any nicer, but here's a little bio: he teaches my class, a class at the local community college, is a chiropractor, and runs two clinics. Talk about over achiever. He wants nothing more than to help his students to succeed. Super nice guy and knows his stuff. After introducing himself to the class, the next words were, "oh and by the way, you have a test over the first four chapters a week from Wednesday." And that was on the first day of class. #Yikes. To sum things up? Five tests in six weeks. Oh, and don't worry, I have already planned an omgIcantbelieveIsurvivedanatomy215 day.
Before I started my summer class, I discovered that I dominate at Trival Pursuit. Especially in the Arts and Entertainment category. One of my Derby night traditions is going over to our neighbors who bring in a handful of friends for the weekend, and of course, carrying on with tradition, I  made my annual visit, and was invited for a game of trivial pursuit. I wasn't feeling very confident when I was put on a team with two other speech therapists, but whatever. I'd give it a shot. The game started at 9:15ish, and at 12:50 AM we still weren't finished with the game, but if I'm ever on your team, and I shout out random answers, just stop talking and let me do my thing.
On the PFM front, we've entered the busy season, and I have three days off a week, two of which because I have to. And the other? I've worked my way up to not working Sundays. #notcomplaining. I've also become rather fond of spending time out in flower world. There's something about the fountains and wind chimes that are just so serene. And peaceful.
After quoting the ever so quotable Grey's Anatomy, which ended it's eighth season with an incredible long waiting cliffhanger, and leaving not only me, but millions of fans in anger,  it has been confirmed and published that not only Grey's Anatomy was renewed for SEASON 9, but ladies and gentlemen, the main characters have renewed their contracts for another two years. The shows creator had said earlier in the season that even if they did decide to leave the show, that Grey's would go on without them. It was a relief to hear that, but during the FOX upfronts, gLee announced that they are moving from Tuesday nights to Thursday nights. At 9:00. Oh wait. Isn't that the same night AND TIME that Grey's is on? There's only two nights a week I ask for the main T.V in the house, and FOX and ABC are going to make me decide against my two favorite shows to watch? On the same night? Rude.
Checking my tweets one last time for the night, I happened to come across this WONDERFUL tweet: "Tomorrow I make my @todayshow newsreader debut. If you're up at 7 AM I'll be on your local NBC station with a caffeine smile." Yes. Luke Russert. Reading the news on the Today show. The Today show people. When I read the tweet, I tweeted him a tweet of congratulations in hopes for a reply back, but once again, I went to bed with no response. I was up at 7 AM, but because of work obligations I had to DVR it.  As Mom puts it, "he looked good, a bit dorky, but kinda cute. And he needed to wear darker shoes." I can work with him on that. I'm sure his Dad couldn't have been prouder.
Signs I'm getting old: I RSVP'ed for my five year high school reunion. I know I'm an outgoing person, but seeing people who I haven't seen since I graduated? Weird.
It feels good to be back in the saddle, and I'm going to try a lot harder in keeping ya'lls updated.
All my love and then some.

Dream Chasing Starts Early...

But THIS EARLY?!?
Speechless.
I'm not exactly sure where my mind was when I signed up for classes. In all the years that I have been attending higher education, I have always told myself, Sara, do whatever you can to NOT sign up for a 8:00 class. It's one thing if it was a Tuesday/Thursday class, but the fact that it's a MONDAY class? My misery level just shot up another 100 points. And as I sit here blogging my misery, I am already preparing myself for having to set my alarm for around 6:20ish to read my morning papers, and be able to get ready and leave the house by 7:00... 7:10 at the latest. And I'll have the honors of getting to fight morning rush hour!!! :)
As long as I'm blogging my Fall schedule, allow me to blog about my Summer schedule.
That's Like Normal Job Hours.
Really?? What was I thinking?? But I like to look at it this way, not only does this fulfill my Natural Science requirement, it also fulfills my dreaded lab requirement, and this will be the LAST SCIENCE class I will EVER keyword EVER have to take. Plus, after watching every single Grey's Anatomy episode upteen billion times, I'll have a good gag reflux, and I'll get to channel my inner Meredith Grey. #winning. #NerdAlert.
If anyone wants to donate or send some Diet Cokes/Gatorade/RedBull (I like the Sugar Free kind) to keep me awake let me know; I'll get an appropriate contact address sent to you. Please and thank you.

Keep Holding On...

I promise I haven't neglected you. I've been having incredible adventures that will be well worth the read, and with flower season in full bloom (no pun intended), the PFM has literally become my second home. If I'm not at my first home, I'm there, and if I'm not there, I'm in class. Although, I do have some good news.... this time next week, I will be less than 24 hours away from being on SUMMER VACATION... for all of two weeks. Please don't give up hope on me. I have great stories up my sleeve that are just waiting to be blogged about... I'll leave you with the hashtag #Americaspoliticalplayground...

Waka Waka...

I have way too much to catch up on, and could go on for days, but I'll give you The Cliff Notes version.

With the city being practically empty because of Spring Break, Sara has worked Friday, Saturday (which was nightmarishly BUSY) Sunday, (Easter. Yes I worked Easter. What. A. JOKE.) Monday, Tuesday morning, and then Operation Luke Russert can officially commence.

Chip has to go to the Drs. This time? My thermostat. #Thiswholetakingcareofacarthingishard.

In a matter of 24 hours, I managed to find one, two, three, four, FIVE gift cards. Included? Two from Target, two from Panera, and one from Starbucks. #winning.

gLee returns in a matter of DAYS.

Dear Ohio Valley weather. I have some words for you.

"I love the smell of mint." Customer A: I use mine for mint juleps. What do you do with it? Oh, you're too young anyways. " I'm actually 23." Thats it. If anyone would like to donate to the I'm getting a tattoo on my forehead that says I'm a lot older than I look fund, let me know.

I set a new record in getting home from school. I left school at 4:00. I crossed the bridge at 5:15. I arrived home at 5:28. 90 minutes to get home. Normally? It should take me 25-30 minutes.

Full fledged adult and still get an Easter basket? The Easter Bunny Rules.

Speaking of Easter, another holiday has come and gone. A nice, quiet, all on our best behavior dinner, with a special guest. And who ever came up with the idea of mimosas before lunch/dinner? Best. Idea. Ever. Next up? Fourth of July.

I'm back on Pinterest. Worst/best decision this week. The results? Long work days on minimal sleep.

Still no word on my alternative self portrait grade.

Currently charging my Kindle where I will soon be purchasing Ali Wentworth's book, Ali In Wonderland. Cannot wait.

I recieved an email from Vera Bradley announcing that one of our local malls has opened a Vera Bradley store. Thats no bueno.

I need basketball/football back in my life.

And finally, after witnessing the University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball team chase Gr8ness, the city of Lexington made the top headlines on Tuesdays all three major network morning shows. And not because the team won, because full fledge riots broke out. Like city police in riot gear riots including couch burnings, small lawn fires, and throwing of bottles kind of riots. Because of those, the hashtag #LexingtonPoliceScanner was the number one trending topic on Twitter. My favorite? "I'm looking for a white male in his young 20's wearing a blue shirt and blue shorts. Pssssshhhhh..... Excuse me while I go laugh.

#KentuckyProud

#LexingtonPoliceScanner

BREAKING NEWS: Operation Luke Russert is a bust. Just received word from Twitter that he will be in New York all week HOSTING Willie Giest's MSNBC Show Way Too Early. If you're up at 5:30 AM one day this week, I think you should at least watch it at least once to see this stud muffin I'm always talking about. According to the mother and father, this could be break it or make it for him. Apparently the show is very witty. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed. Will I be watching it live? Negative. DVRing it? Check.

All Art Requires Courage...

Sure does. For most of you know, I am currently in the midst of my what I thought was going to be a relaxing course, but since then it has become somewhat frustrating art class. I won't bore you with the projects I have had to endure, but there is one that I am proud of (toot toot) and one that I think you should know about.
For our last out of class project, we were asked to draw an "alternative self portrait". Okay?? What exactly does this involve? I'm not a fan of sitting in front of the mirror and drawing myself. Thats on the borderline of crrreeeepppppyyy. Crisis averted. Instead, we were asked to draw something or a set of something that represented us as a person. "In case you need to get a jump start on your ideas, I have a slide show that I can show you." Ummmmmm.... about that slide show. The pictures that my angel of a professor showed us looked like these belonged in the MOMA. They were that good. Starting to sweat bullets, I turned to one of my peers and asked when it was due. He replied, "I bet it's our final". Sweet. I should be that good by the end of April. Now mind you, this was the first part of March. And of course, there's always that ONE person who always has to raise their hand and ask, "when's this due?"  How about...... March 22nd. Wait. She expected me to become that good in a matter of weeks days? Insert a mad dash of PANIC.
While I did have one or two ideas, I talked it over with the chief artist of mi familia, and between the two of us, we were able to come up with a super fab idea.
So here it is. In stages. And whatever you do, don't laugh.

After Some Much Needed In Class Work...
Oooohh We're Half Way There...
At One Time I Actually Enjoyed Doing This...
No Turning Back Now...

There you have it. Our professor claimed that she would grade these over Spring Break... No grade to be seen. #sofrustrating.
